This year we celebrated the Gila Wilderness Centennial. On June 3, 1924, Our first wilderness area comprising of 755,000 acres of the Gila National Forest in New Mexico was set aside. Now our nation has 806 Wilderness Areas to marvel at. In honor of the Gila Wilderness, schools located near the Gila Wilderness were asked to submit Student Prose, Poetry and Art for exhibit. From May 28 – June 3, 2024, 135 pieces of student work was on exhibit in the lobby of the Silco Theater, Silver City, New Mexico. In appreciation of the fine work from the students, this website has created a page to display their work for all to enjoy. We will be continuing to post new work from the students with a nature/environment theme. The pieces are arranged by school.
