Comets

A patterned sky

Splashed with stars

A repeating commonality

Distant points

Of blazing light

Familiar friends we see

The canvas of the night

Presents a show at times

Random streaks

Of burning dust

Remnants not sublime

This voyaging ball

Of rock and ice

Piercing the voids of space

A blazing tail

Of luminous gas

Gives this traveler its face

A stunning sight

These comets are

When bold and bright

In view

They leave an imprint

On our lives

As most things

Seldom do

It’s the blazing wonder

A moment of beauty

Hanging in the sky

Temporary

Is its visit

Gives rise to question why

The mysteries

That make up life

Are tangled in a way

They pulse and thrive

On a hidden course

Give color to our day

It’s the brilliant moments

The making of memories

The comets of random chance

This trip called life

A treasured time

Embrace and enjoy the dance
